Chairs for Art

Early on, the Art & Culture Commission projects took shape at Alice Chin's Artful Gatherings Gallery at 106 Stephen Street. One of the first fundraising events was the 2005 Chairs for Art exhibit and raffle. For this event, old wooden folding chairs salvaged from the former Tedens Opera House (at the same address) were transformed by local artists into wondrous art objects. The finished chairs were exhibited around town in businesses and public buildings, and the Commission later arranged a final artist reception and raffle at Artful Gatherings.
