Rabies Alert
On June 13, 2016, a bat was found in the vicinity of the 700 block f Ridge Road, Lemont Illinois. It was submitted for rabies examination. The bat was determined to be rabid by the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory. If you were exposed to or bitten by a bat, contact your doctor.

All residents should keep their dogs, cats and ferrets on a leash when out of their homes. If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, have the pet immediately inoculated with the rabies vaccine.

You are advised NOT to handle any bats, skunks or other wild animals. If any bats or skunks are found down or dead on your property or roadway, please call the Cook County Department of Animal Control at (708) 974-6140 or visit their website at www.cookcountyil.gov/animalcontrol
