Village Administrator's Report

Upcoming Board Meetings and
Recap of February Meetings  

The Village Board meetings are generally held on the 2nd, 3rd (committee meeting) and 4th Monday of each month. Meeting agendas and agenda items are posted online at least 48 hours prior to a meeting and meeting minutes are then posted after approved by the Board. The Village Board voting meetings are televised live and streamed on the Village’s YouTube page -  The scheduled Village Board Meetings in March are as follow: 
March 13 - Village Board Meeting
March 20 - Village Board Committee of the Whole Meeting
March 27 - Village Board Meeting and Village Board Committee of the Whole
In February, the Village held two Village Board meetings and Committee of the Whole meetings. A brief summary of the items approved and/or discussed is listed below:

  • The Board approved a series of ordinances/resolutions amending the existing planned unit development for Old Town Square.
  • The Board authorized award of a contract for the 2017 Water Main Replacement Program:  State Street water main from Wend to Freehauf Street and Timberline Drive Re-valving from Timberline Court to Evergreen Place.
  • The Village Board Committee of the Whole discussed St Al’s parking lot special use and variation, a special use and zoning map amendment for the Look Nu Carwash and a special use request for small cell antennas in the downtown.  The Village Board also approved the Look Nu Carwash special use and zoning map amendment at the proceeding meeting.   
  • The Village Board Committee of the Whole discussed pending boundary agreements with the Villages of Romeoville and Homer Glen.  The Village expects to conduct public hearings on the proposed agreements in March and/or April.
  • The Village Board Committee of the Whole discussed feedback received from a meeting of the Downtown Business Association Group. 
  • The Village Board approved an extension of a special use for Notting Hill Subdivision, a residential subdivision located at 15325 129th Street.
  • The Village Board approved a series of ordinances and resolution regarding a minor modification/annexation to the Rolling Meadows subdivision.
  • The Village Board Committee of the Whole discussed the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget. 

Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting Update

At the February 15 Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting, review of the Vistancia Annexation, Rezoning and Preliminary Planned Unit Development (Residential Subdivision near Timberline Drive) was concluded. The item is scheduled to be reviewed by the Village Board at the March 20 Committee of the Whole Meeting. The Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to resume the review of the Donegal Excavating Final PUD and Preliminary Plat (Industrial development located at 13011 Grant Road) at the March 15 meeting. All agendas and agenda items for the Planning & Zoning Commission meetings are posted online at least 48 hours prior to a meeting. The minutes for the meetings are posted after they are approved by the Commission. 

Fiscal Year 201-18 Budget Development

Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget Development
The Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget development is underway. After multiple staff reviews, a draft of the full budget (including capital projects/equipment previously discussed at the January Committee meeting) was discussed at the February 27 Committee of the Whole Meeting. The Village Board will be hosting two formal budget public hearings at the March 13 and March 27 Village Board meetings, which gives residents the ability to offer comment on the proposed budget. The first draft budget will be posted to our website by the end of this week, at the following link: The Village Board will review a final draft of the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget at the March 27 Committee of the Whole Meeting.
The Village has been notified that it will be receiving the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the third consecutive year. The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Award to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting. 


Annual State of the Village Address

Mayor Reaves will be presenting his final State of the Village Address on March 2 at Crystal Grand Banquets.  Mayor Reaves will join attendees from the community to highlight successes, initiatives, financial updates, potential economic development projects and more. You may contact the Lemont Chamber of Commerce for registration If you are unable to attend the event, the Village will post a copy of the presentation on our YouTube station shortly after the presentation

St. Pat's Day

St. Patrick's Day Parade
Join us this Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Lemont. We are still accepting entries to walk in the parade. Just call 630-243-2700 to register your group.


HQRA Restoration Project
Volunteers Needed
CITGO Petroleum Corporation and The Conservation Foundation in conjunction with the Village of Lemont are seeking volunteers to help at the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area restoration event on Saturday, April 29. Volunteers are needed to help restore five acres of natural areas by removing invasive species and planting trees. Crew Leaders are especially needed on April 29. This project’s goal is to restore plant and animal diversity. Register today at -
