Notice to Residents:
Electric Aggregation in the Village of Lemont

The Village of Lemont, along with 16 other municipalities, has been a member of the Will County Governmental League Electrical Aggregation Group (WEAG) since 2012. The sole purpose of this group is to pool its residential electrical accounts together in order to gain buying power for the purchase of competitively priced electricity from a certified alternative retail electric supplier.

Our current aggregation program with Dynegy Energy expires in October 2018. After a thorough bid process, Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. ("Constellation") was chosen as our new retail electric supplier. This program offers a carbon-free electricity product consisting of 100% of your supply of electricity matched with emission free energy certificates (EFECs) which are further described in the terms and condition.

Eligible residential and small businesses will receive a letter in August. This letter will be from Constellation, but will contain the Village logo. Below are the details and instructions that are outlined in the letter.  No one from the Village or representing the Village will ever call you or come to your home to get you to switch to an electric supplier.

The contract we have with Constellation is a 36 month program with a fixed rate of 7.517 cents/kWh for the term of October 2018 through October 2021 meter read cycles.  As an eligible participant, your account will automatically be enrolled in the program unless you choose to opt-out by August 31, 2018.

If you are NOT currently enrolled in the Village electrical program, you can still contact Constellation (info below) to be included in our program. You should always contact your existing supplier to find out if they impose a penalty or termination fee should you cancel your contract with them.

You will continue to receive one monthly bill from ComEd. You will still be eligible for the same programs you are eligible for now through the utility, such as Budget Billing, payment agreements and energy efficiency programs. The only change will be in the Electric Supply price on your ComEd bill.  Visit ComEd's website for more information on billing - www.ComEd.com. Service issues, power outages or questions regarding monthly bills should be directed to ComEd.

Once your account is enrolled, you will receive a confirmation letter from ComEd confirming your switch to Constellation. Approximately 30 to 45 days after enrollment you will receive your first bill with your new Constellation price.

If you choose not to participate, you can elect to be removed from the program by completing and returning the bottom portion of the letter, by calling Constellation, or by visiting their website at www.constellation.com/il-willcounty, by August 31, 2018. If you have any questions or need additional information about Municipal Aggregation or Constellation, please visit their website or call them - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Please be advised that you also have the option to purchase electricity supply from a Retail Electric Supplier (RES) or from ComEd pursuant to Section 16-103 of the Public Utilities Act. Information about your options can be found at Illinois Commerce Commission website at www.pluginillinois.org and www.ComEd.com. You may request from the Illinois Power Agency, without charge, a list of all supply options available to you in a format that allows comparison of prices and products.
