The Forge Fall Cooldown MTB Race
in Partnership with The Bike Hub
October 16, 2022 | 8:30 a.m.
Long Course | Short Course

Race Information:

The Forge Fall Cooldown MTB Race will be ridden on the crushed limestone, gravel, and single track trails throughout the Forge: Lemont Quarries and the adjoining trails.  Two race distances will be available: A longer, more advanced course of approximately 12 Miles and a shorter less technical course of < 10 miles.

This is an open class MTB race.  You may use any bike and equipment of your preference, but E-bikes are not allowed.

Course Information:

The courses are being developed and will be ridden on the wide gravel trails, newly developed double and single single track and the Drop In Zone MTB Course throughout the Forge and adjoining trails.

The long course will be a multi-lap route (likely 3x laps) with a mix of gravel, single and double track of varying degrees of difficulty and the Drop In Zone MTB course.  The main gravel trails have a variety of terrain but are mostly flat with a few small hills, bridge crossings, etc.  The MTB / single track trails will have more variability in the terrain and the Drop In Zone segment will have variable terrain, elevation, several jump elements and some more technical sections.  The long course is designed for more experienced riders and intermediate to advanced riders.

The short course will be a multi lap route (likely 2x laps) with a mix of gravel and single and double track of varying degrees of difficulty.  Like the long course, the main gravel trails have a variety of terrain but are mostly flat with a few small hills, bridge crossings, etc., and the single track trails will have more variability in the terrain.  The short course will not ride through the Drop In Zone course.  The short course is designed for beginners and novices and those who prefer a shorter, less technical course.

Final course maps will be released well before race day.  The trail and weather conditions will determine the actual course and distance.

Awards will be determined, but will include at least top three overall male and female in both races.  This is a no frills event (i.e. no shirt, hats, etc.), but we'll include some swag and post race food and drinks (TBD what we will serve).
