The Public Works Department operates and maintains the Village streets, water and sewer systems. As part of street maintenance, Public Works manages and repairs all Village owned street lights, snow plowing and overseas village road construction projects. The department has over 160 lane miles and over 60 cul-de-sacs to maintain.
The department manages the Village’s water and sewer infrastructure. This includes monitoring and management of the storm and sanitary sewers as well as drinking water quality and water distribution system. The department utilizes SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), a computerized system to maintain and monitor the water system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The Public Works Department is also responsible for maintaining the Village’s fleet. The fleet consists of over 100 pieces of equipment and vehicles. This includes Police cars, Administration vehicles, light and heavy trucks and snow plows.
