2025 Lemont Police Department - Citizens Police Academy
The Lemont Police Department is accepting applications for the 2025 Citizen's Police Academy. Classes will be held at the Lemont Police Department starting in April and will continue for 8 weeks.
PURPOSE:
The goal of the class is to give citizens a chance to see how the Police Department operates and how officers are trained to respond to different calls. Officers educate through policy and procedures as well as through experiences. It is an opportunity for citizens to understand and see how police handle certain situations. Some of the topics of the classes include: DUI enforcement, Mock Court case trials, Use of Force, Shoot or Don't Shoot, Traffic Law, K9, and Investigations.
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS:
If you are interested in participating, please complete and return the application. Applications should be returned to the Lemont Police Department, Attn: Sgt. Gentile or via email to: dgentile@lemont.il.us Deadline for applications is Dec. 31, 2024 or when the class is full (maximum 25).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants for the Citizen Police Academy must meet the following criteria:
You must live in the Village of Lemont. Be at least 21 years of age, have no felony convictions, and have no misdemeanor convictions within three years of application. The Lemont Police Department reserves the right to exclude any applicant from consideration or participation.
