Lemont's Water Tower on State Street The Village of Lemont Water Department takes pride in providing our community with safe, clean and reliable water. Our highly skilled and knowledgeable staff are on call to answer any concerns regarding high water bills, water quality, water leaks, starting a new service, disconnecting an old service or any other questions one might have about the services we provide. Water System
The mission of the Village of Lemont Water Department is to provide an uninterrupted supply of safe, clean water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, The employees who work in the Water Department take this mission very seriously. The Water Department serves approximately 17,000 customers and over 6,000 service connections.
Responsibilities
The Water Department personnel are responsible for operating and maintaining 97 miles of water mains ranging in size from 3 to 16 inches in diameter, 1,500 fire hydrants and 800 valves in the distribution system. In pumping and storage system the responsibilities include 4 deep wells, 1 shallow well, 2 above ground storage tank ground level storage tank and 3 booster pumps. In addition the crew also operate and maintains the water softening equipment and all of the motors and pumps needed to deliver a quality finished product.
Licensing and Training
Employees of the Lemont Water Department are required to obtain a Water Operators License from the State of Illinois. They must also attend hours of specialized training to maintain the license needed to treat and distribute the water to your taps.
