“Quarries and Illinois & Michigan Canal Walking Tour”

The tour guide will talk about the history of Lemont limestone, the quarry Industry and its workers, plus the construction and use of the I&M Canal. Historical photos of canal boats, quarry equipment and workers will be shown to give a sense of the hustle and bustle of the quarries and canal in their heyday.
Tour is 3/4 mile on a crushed gravel/mulch trail with some inclines.
- Meet at the I&M Canal Trail / Lemont Heritage Quarries 1st parking area
- $10.00/adults, $7.00/ seniors (65+), $5.00/ child (under 18)
- PAY AT THE QUARRIES - CASH OR CHECK ONLY
